The Windsor Boutique Hotel

Convenient * Artsy * Instagrammable

Since opening in 2013 the Windsor Boutique Hotel has offered visitors the ‘ultimate boutique experience’ with unique and luxurious accommodations in the heart of Downtown Asheville.

The historic building on the corner of Walnut and Broadway was built in 1907 and first used as the Harris-Barnett Dry Goods Company. In the mid-1920s it became Vance Hotel (described as “European” in the Asheville City Directory), and through the years it operated as a hotel under various names: the Webster Hotel, the Traveler’s Hotel, and finally the Windsor Hotel. It remained the Windsor hotel from 1957 until 2008 when it closed its doors as one of downtown’s last residential hotels - and after eighty years of housing guests it had quite a history and reputation.

Today the Windsor’s reputation is established as Asheville’s most artsy and convenient boutique hotel.

The Windsor is comprised of 14 unique luxury suites: each suite has a private bedroom, bathroom, and living area, along with a full kitchen and washer/dryer - conveniences that distinguish it from other downtown hotels. Each of the the suites are decorated with hand-picked pieces from a mixture of local and Parisian artists. Guests also receive a discount at the sprawling Désirant boutique on the main floor. Désirant carries ‘highly-curated’ items from apparel and jewelry to home decor, in an interesting mix of new and vintage - the imaginative displays and beautiful gifts make it seem as though you’re shopping in a large art gallery.

Although the hotel doesn’t offer food, there are dozens of options within a short walking distance for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in-between, with Asheville favorites like Sovereign Remedies, Over Easy Cafe, 5 Walnut Wine Bar, and Old Europe Pastries less than a block away.

The Windsor has a 5.0 rating on Trip Advisor, with guests ravingabout the location, staff, personalized service, and the unique decor of the small hotel. Their stylish Instagram account is definitely worth a follow @windsorasheville.

Stay here for a convenient and aesthetically pleasing experience while experiencing everything downtown Asheville has to offer.
